Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa Skyphos Xinomavro
An excellent, if not un-typical BBQ wine, this Xinermavro is Macerated for 18 days then fermented with indigenous yeast in steel tanks for up to two months. It then underwent malolactic fermentation prior to four month of aging in five-hundred litre oak barrels. This expressive, dry red is light in body, with bright red fruit, as well a savoury and herbaceous character. It finishes with a fine tea-like tannin structure.
Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa are a Co-operative of growers who practice sustainable and organic viticulture and respect for the farming traditions of the historical region of Imathia. Xinermavro (roughly) translates as ‘sour black’ as the grape’s typically thick skin provides heaps of tannin and a highly acidic quality. It is typically compared to Piedmontese varietals such as Nebiolo.
